Question 7
Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task, What Have You Learned In Progression From Your Media Product?

Opening Title Sequence |
What have we learned?
|
Going from the Preliminary Tasks to the Final Opening Title Sequence has taught us a lot of things. When going through the Preliminary Task, we had little to no thought into the many intricacies that make a general filming project successful. We ignored Mise-En-Scene aspects like the lighting, costumes and props. We also ignored the many 'Behind the Scenes' aspects that go into the production of a film project like storyboarding, scripting and location selection. As a result of the little thought going into the Preliminary Task when filming, the quality of the video's in the task as well as content quality is not as good as it could be as if it was planned.

When deciding to tackled the Opening Title Sequence project we taken a lot more time in the planning stages of development to make sure that we had a direct plan going in due to the scope and scale of the project compared to the Preliminary Tasks. When in the planning stages of the Opening Title Sequence we went through a research phase looking at different film and Horror theory as to what makes a successful film and Opening Title Sequence. We storyboarded the sort of storyline we wanted along with the types of scenes and shots we wanted to fill out the Opening Title Sequence. We Scripted the dialogue to be featured in the Opening Title Sequence as well as figuring out the location choices previously before beginning the production process. Everything from casting decisions as well as preferred lighting choices was also chosen in the planning stages of the Opening Title Sequence. When it came to actually jumping into the production process of the Opening Title Sequence we already had a plan in place as to what needed to be filmed and what environment these scenes would need. Having the plan helped speed up the production process significantly when it came down to doing it. Without a plan in place beforehand the production process would have taken a lot longer and included significantly more trial and error. This overall helped keep the production process going smoothly with little delay or issues which was a lot more efficient for us.
Overall we learned throughout our transitioning from the Preliminary Task to the Opening Title Sequence that having a pre-production plan for the production process is a very important part to making a successful Opening Title Sequence or just any film project in general whether it be Opening Sequences, Trailers or full films. Without the pre-determined plan the production process will take much longer, be a lot less organised and will most likely have a lot less quality in each individual shot which will affect the quality of the whole project when its all edited together as an actual video sequence.
