notes on lighting
Lighting in all forms of media can help portray a message or certain feeling or connotation towards the audience or the viewer. In film production, lighting is a very important factor that can make or break a scene depending on how well it is implemented and utilised. A Horror film for example, may have very dim/dark lighting or lighting know as 'Low Key Lighting'. Low Key Lighting in a suspenseful Horror scene for example can help build tension and atmosphere that will help set up for something later on, making whatever it is much more effective. If more lighter lighting was used ('High Key Lighting) then the scene would not have much tension at all.
For our Opening Title Sequence we decided that most of the shots would be filmed in mid-day. During our filming the shots filmed indoors in combination with the daylight kept the lighting indoors to an appropriate level and prevented the shots from being too dark in not very well lit rooms. This also prevented shots from being affected by glare from the lighting. We decided to use daylight to our advantage so we didn't have to resort to using artificial lighting from lamps and torches to help brighten the shots. We did not want to do this as manipulating artificial light to look correct for the scene we want can be difficult to manage and set up behind the scenes and can really slow down the filming process and decrease the efficiency of the production.
In the shots in the beginning where Jason can be seen waking up, the lighting was kept quite low key to help show the passage of time had from the point of waking to the time leaving. These shots were generally darker than the other shots in the Opening Title Sequence because of the time of day the scene takes place which was very early in the morning, hence the room was a lot dimmer.

Some scenes later on after the title of the Opening Title Sequence, 'Erased' have much brighter lighting than the scenes before hand. This continues with the linear style of filming and storytelling we were going for. The lighting here is much more high-key as the scene is set outside at around mid-morning.

At a later scene in the mid-point of the Opening Title Sequence when the main character is being followed by the unknown Supernatural entity he tries to escape it. One of the scenes in this part of the Opening Title Sequence features very low-key lighting. The lighting here signifies is very low-key due to the area the main character is hiding in but also gives the connotations that the character is in danger.
